1. Please return your Wednesday folders by Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014.

2. Extra Credit for Reading and Writing (50 Points each) are due on Monday, Dec. 8th-Shake it Off and Deep River Waterpark

3. Independent Reading Logs are due on Friday, Dec. 5th

4th Grade

Standards: Students will refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and inferences drawn from the text with both literature and informational text with an emphasis on informational texts. (RL.4.1, RI.4.1).

Students will also determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text (RL.4.4, RI.4.4)

Assessments: Unit 7 Vocabulary Test is on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014. From the Mixed Up Files (novel) chapters 1-4 test is on Thursday, Dec. 11th.

Tuesday-SS/ ELA Complete final draft Protest Letter to a Hero who stood up for their rights (typed and include a picture) and Compass Learning 1/2 hour.

Wednesday-Unit 7 Vocabulary Workshop

Thursday-SS-Jr. Scholastic and Chapter 1 character graphic organizer From the Mixed Up Files

5th Grade

Assessments: Thursday-SS section 2-3 quiz, Friday-Unit 6 Vocabulary test, Friday-Chapters 9-12 Comprehension test


Describe how a narrator’s or speaker’s point of view influences how events are described.


Compare and contrast stories in the same genre (e.g., mysteries and adventure stories) on their approaches to similar themes and topics.


With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach.


Monday-complete lesson 2-3 Comprehension questions 1-5.

Tuesday and Wednesday-Compass Learning and complete final draft diary entry (internal or external conflict). SS-study for 2-3 quiz.

Thursday-Unit 6 Vocabulary Workshop and Comprehension questions for chapter 10 The Egypt Game. Study for vocabulary test.

Friday-Have an amazing weekend!!
