CCSS: Students will determine the theme of various literature texts and the main idea of informational texts using details in the text and summarize what they read (RL.4.2, RI.4.2).

Students will also determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text (RL.4.4, RI.4.4).

Tuesday-Unit 6 Vocabulary Workshop page 77; Comprehension questions for Jr. Scholastic “The Battle For Hong Kong” (page 10-Your Turn and 11-Mapsearch Questions)

Wednesday-Summary and Main Idea worksheet; read Jr. Scholastic “It’s My Right” play and determine which character you would like to play.

Thursday-Unit 6 Vocabulary Workshop page 78 and 79; Junior Scholastic play (rehearse parts for the play-play performance is Tuesday, November 25th.

5th Grade


Students will determine the meaning of words and phrases they read including figurative language, academic and domain specific words and phrases as they are used in text (RL.5.4, RI.5.4, L.5.5).

Students will report on a topic or text or present an opinion, sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes; speak clearly at an understandable pace (SL.5.4).


The Egypt Game test on chapters 5-8 is on Friday, November 21st.

Section 2-2 Social Studies Quiz is Wednesday, November 19th.

Unit 6 Vocabulary Test-Monday, December 1st


Monday-Social Studies-complete section 2-2 reading in Social Studies book (pages 47-52); complete the What Did You Learn questions 1-4; read the play in Jr. Scholastic The Boy King and determine which role you would like to play.

Tuesday-Social Studies-complete Homework Hotline and Sticky Notes Post graphic organizer for section 2-2; Section 2 -2 Reading Essentials and Study Guide 2-2; and study for section 2-2 quiz on Wednesday.

Wednesday-ELA-Read chapter 7 in The Egypt Games book; complete annotations and comprehension questions. (comprehension questions are due on Friday, Nov. 21); Unit 6 Vocabulary Workshop

Thursday-Chapter 8 The Egypt Game graphic organizer; Compass Learning and Unit 6 Vocabulary Workshop; rehearse for the play The Boy King.
