5th Grade

Content: Reading and responding to text, finding textual evidence, understanding internal and external conflict, using persuasive language, using vivid language, connecting to characters, understanding cultural differences

Monday-ELA-Read Amigo Brothers and complete comprehension questions p. 34 1-6. SS-work on cultural project.

Tuesday-ELA-(due on Thursday) design a poster advertising the fight between Antonio and Felix (make sure it is uses persuasive language and covers the following-date, time, location, event, etc.

SS-work on cultural project–date is extended to Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Wednesday-ELA-design a poster advertising the fight between Antonio and Felix (due Thursday) and complete Read and Write Questions in workbook.. SS-work on cultural project. (date is extended to Tuesday, Sept. 30.)

Thursday-ELA-Complete Read and Write Questions in workbook pg. 4-18. SS-work on cultural project. (date is extended to Tuesday, Sept. 30.)

Friday-Assessment on Amigo Brothers. No homework: Have a spectacular weekend!

4th Grade

Content: Understanding author’s purpose, finding textual evidence, presenting in front of peers, summarizing, comparing and contrasting protests, understanding protests/boycotts

Monday-ELA-complete pages 24-28 in Vocabulary Workshop; complete final draft essay (A Time I Was in a Pickle). Present final project in the following order: cover page, final draft, 2nd rough draft, 1st rough draft, peer editing checklist, and graphic organizer.

Tuesday-ELA-Reading Response Notebooks (Your opinion about Gandhi)

Wednesday-SS-Rosa Parks comprehension questions; ELA-page 73 comprehension questions.

Thursday-SS-“Gandhi” write 5 open-ended interview questions, ELA-complete pages Vocabulary Workshop 24-28, and reread “Gandhi”

Friday-Assessment on Gandhi.  Quiz on Rosa Parks. No homework: Have a spectacular weekend!
