Skills: using quotes from a text when explaining what a text says, drawing and supporting inferences from a text and knowing the difference between appropriate and inappropriate textual support

SWBAT:  make inferences and draw conclusions about what they are readingquote accurately from the text and use examples, details, and quotes to support inferences/understand and effectively complete the writing process for narrative essays

MondayELA: Unit 2 Vocabulary Workshop (test is on Friday, Oct. 11 and unit is due on Oct. 11th) and  complete final draft of narrative (Time you were a Good Samaritan) Please submit title page,  final draft, two rough drafts, two peer editing checklists-in that order; SSJr. Scholastic News-back page (political cartoons and vocabulary builder)

TuesdayELA: Complete Independent Reading Response Chart and Informational Text activities Gibbons and Vote Quote)  SS-Complete Enrichment Text to world, self, and media (This Day in History-The Great Chicago Fire)

Wednesday-ELA-Informational text on Classified Ads and Reading Informational Texts. Unit 2 Vocabulary Workshop is due Friday; SS-Read an article from Jr. Scholastic and complete two responses from Informational text worksheet.

ThursdayELA-study for Unit 2 Vocabulary test, SS-Scholastic News (due on Tuesday, Oct. 15)

MondayELA-Compare/Contrast rough draft essay  (comparing/contrasting prose to drama). Use Venn Diagram to include the following in the your essay: introduction, similarities, differences, and conclusion.

TuesdaySS-Complete Enrichment Text to world, self, and media (This Day in History-The Chicago Fire) ELA-complete rough draft #2 on compare and contrast essay of prose and drama (due Thursday).

WednesdayS.S. Jr. Scholastic (pages 2, 3, 4) and draft #2 compare/contrast essay

Thursday-ELA-Final draft is due on Friday, October 11, 2013
