Skills: determining two or main ideas from a text and supporting it with key details, summarizing text

SWBAT: distinguish between key details and explanatory details, identify multiple events, key ideas, specific details in a variety of informational and technical texts

Standards: R.I.5.3 (explain the relationships or interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific or technical text based on specific information in the text.

5th Grade SS

Main ideas/skills:  using research skills to investigate and understand how early humans react to their environment and each other

SWBAT: use evidence to create an informational piece of  writing

Standards: RI.5.2-RI.5.3

Main ideas/skills: research, investigate, analyze and understand how the geography and events far away led to the founding of IL and its relationship to both the frontiersmen of KY and the entrepreneurs of the NE and its growth into one of the most important states in U.S.

SWBAT: understand IL became one of the most important states in the U.S.

Standard: RI.5.2 and RI.53

4th Grade ELA


Skills:identify different points of view and determine the clues that help decide on which point of view it is.

SWBAT: Determine the different points of view when reading.

Standards: RL.4.6 (compare and contrast the point of view from which different stories are narrated, including difference between first and third person narrations)
